Corporate Social Responsibility

Committed to a Sustainable Food System

We approach sustainability across agriculture and food production with a focus on reducing our environmental impact while supporting our people and the communities we call home. As a global dairy company, our scale enables us to identify, test and expand solutions to challenges across the food and agriculture landscape.

Our efforts are shaped by the three pillars of Lactalis Group’s global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy:

1. Preserve Nature and Resources

Combating climate change, preserving natural resources and protecting ecosystems are both our responsibility and a matter of business continuity. From global policies to their local implementation, we progressively improve our practices, combining ambition and pragmatism, to reduce our impacts in each territory.

2. Leverage Dairy Goodness

We are driven by a passion for dairy products. Their safety, quality and taste are at the heart of what we do. Dairy products play a key role in balanced and affordable diets in many countries. We continuously improve their nutritional profile and adapt them to local habits and culinary traditions, while ensuring clear information for consumers.

3. Empower our People, Partners and Communities

People are at the center of our strategy and long-term success. We aim to provide safe, engaging and inclusive working environments. Beyond our teams, we contribute to the vitality of the regions where we operate — through local initiatives and partnerships.

Taking Action on Methane

Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas and reducing emissions is an important part of addressing climate change. While dairy plays a role in methane emissions, the industry also has a responsibility – and an opportunity – to be part of the solution.

In support of the first pillar of our global CSR strategy, Lactalis USA joined the Environmental Defense Fund’s Dairy Methane Action Alliance (DMAA) in 2023. Through this commitment, we joined an industry-wide effort to advance transparent accounting and public disclosure of methane emissions across dairy supply chains. Our participation also includes creating and implementing a comprehensive methane action plan. As this work progresses, we are strengthening our understanding of methane emissions across our U.S. dairy supply chain, publicly reporting our progress and taking steps to reduce emissions.
